Dan Ban and The Setting Sun

This is for my buddy Dan...

The other night I was listening to one of the CDs he made for me, which included solo Dan material - and I came across "The Setting Sun"... a simple, folksy tune of his which immediately prompted me to create this video for it...

I hope you like what I've done, Dan - put it on your Facebook page - add it to your music download sites - promote the crap out of yourself - and when you become rich and famous, just invite me to your pool every now and then and remind your servant to keep those Sangrias coming!!

Now, for our visitors - if you enjoyed this, make sure to check out Dan's other solo recordings, including one of his most recent endeavors, Dan Ban - Storybook Vol 1 on broadjam. You can listen for free, but more importantly I hope you decide to buy! He can also be found on iTunes, Amazon, and spotify.

Oh yes, and if you just happen to be a big wig in the music industry looking for an unsigned artist - then keep in mind you can contact Dan directly on his Facebook page! Pay no attention to the Rene Zellweger photo albums and his tributes to Susan Dey... the man's a little obsessed, but he's one helluva talented musician!!!

Dan Banic's powerful Satan's Boat!

Be prepared to be just a little bit creeped out... great, bluesy song by Dan, just put to video by myself for the website, merging it with some 1933 stop motion animation by early film-maker pioneer Ladislas Starevich - depicting what one enthusiast called a Hieronymus Bosch-like vision of Hades... a little spooky, yes, but after all - Dan's song is a warning - much like many down South blues records - to steer clear of that ole' Satan! (If Hell is anything close to this I'd listen to the man.)

Oh, and by the way Dan, I thought you'd appreciate that I made sure to include the part of the film where the little puppy escapes... showing that even at a ball thrown by the prince of darkness himself, good can still outwit evil!

Joe, I thought you'd love this too, being stop motion animation.... there are NO dinosaurs in it, but I DID see an APE!! Enjoy.....

Walking Dead.... cartoons?

Robert Kirkman's already behind the highest rated show on TV today, the popular ongoing comic book that started it all, interactive video games and a spin-off show in the works... could an animated project be far behind? One might come to that conclusion, perhaps, after tripping upon these Walking Dead caricatures I found today - but let's not jump to any conclusions... personally I don't think the world is ready to feel hopeless in another medium - the show already on is fine, thank you, I don't need ANOTHER zombie distraction in my life!!

But I digress... just LOOK at these beautiful drawings by Edward Pun... they are really quite good...

The infamous Preparation Buttock Commercial!!

I'm just laughing so hard right now... and once again, I just couldn't wait to get this up properly on the website before revealing it all here first!...

Digging through our comedy tapes I came across THIS gem!! A "commercial" we did for a hemorrhoid creme we made up called "Preparation Buttock" - - the biggest thrill for me in hearing this again is the fact that two good buddies of mine made guest appearances in this comedy bit - - our dear friend George McClain ("Hey Bob, have a seat!") and Mike Sargent ("Preparation Buttock - for that hiney!") - - who today would probably pay me GOOD MONEY to keep this off the internet!

The greatest gift... is laughter!!

It was my birthday yesterday and my brother Jeffrey sent me this... he's a fantastic cartoonist and a downright hilarious one at that! Knows just how to get me laughing to the point of tears! I've already thanked him, but here I go again - thanks Jeffrey for thinking of me, drawing this hilarious caricature - and for always knowing just what little subtleties to include in there that really get me laughing more and more - no matter how many times I look at it! ...You're a sick, sick man!!...

"My dear brother...LAUGHTER keeps you young,
so keep SMILING! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"
